Add Flavor to your Coffee with Coffee Syrups
Coffee syrups are flavor additives, usually for coffee or tea. They are available in a wide variety of flavors. They can be purchased ready or can be prepared at home.
The main brands are Coffee Time, Autocrat and Eclipse. Other brands are Monin, Da Vinci, Dolce and Senza.
Average price for a 16 oz bottle is about $6. If purchased in quantities, the price for a bottle is about $3.50-4. For example, a case of six 16 oz bottles of Coffee Time, Autocrat or Eclipse syrup costs about $20. Sugar free versions are also available in various flavors. Use about 1 or 2 tablespoons of syrup per cup of coffee or other drink. Prepare Syrup: - 2 cups strong coffee
- 1 1/3 cups sugar or about 1/2 cup Splenda for sugar free syrup
- 1/3 cup dark roasted and cracked coffee beans
- Pinch of salt
Combine in saucepan and heat over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Then boil for 4-5 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Remove coffee beans and keep the mixture in the fridge.
Prepare Chocolate Syrup - 1 1/2 cups sugar or Splenda for sugar free syrup
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Very little salt
Combine sugar, cocoa, salt and then add water gradually, stirring slowly. Then heat to boiling and boil for 3-4 minutes while constantly stirring. Remove from oven and let it cool. Stir in vanilla and keep the mixture in the fridge.
